There's a short window during pregnancy when you feel the bump, you feel the love, and you think... I want to remember this forever! This is that window. And Worcestershire is a beautiful place to photograph it :)
As a nature lover and maternity photographer in Worcester, I've spent years exploring this county. What I've discovered is that Worcestershire is quietly, unexpectedly stunning and it offers some of the most varied and magical backdrops for an outdoor pregnancy photoshoot you'll find anywhere!
Here's a little tour of some of my favourite locations, and why each one might be perfect for you.
Why the Malvern Hills are such a popular choice for a maternity photoshoot in Worcestershire?
If you ask me for my top summer recommendation for a maternity photoshoot in Worcestershire, it's this. Every single time!
The Malvern Hills at golden hour are simply BREATHTAKING. The light is soft, warm, and incredibly flattering and for a pregnant mum that matters. I know hidden parking spots and gentle routes to the top that take less than 15 minutes so this is absolutely manageable even in the third trimester.
Yes, it means a session around dinner or bedtime. But mums who've done it tell me they'd do it again in a heartbeat. The photos speak for themselves.
"It was so worth driving for nearly an hour from Leominster and watching the sunset from the top of the Malvern Hills." — Joanna

Wildflower meadows, nature reserves & woodland: perfect for pregnancy photography in any season
Worcestershire is full of quiet, beautiful nature reserves and commons. Many of them tucked away and known mainly to locals. Tall grasses, wildflower meadows, blooming hawthorn trees, buttercups… these settings suit maternity photography beautifully.
Most of my woodland and meadow spots have free parking and easy access. We often have the whole place to ourselves with an occasional dog walker nearby, which means relaxed, uninterrupted time to just be present and let the photos happen naturally.
Every season brings something different: bluebells in spring, golden meadows in summer, rich colours in autumn, bare branches and mist in winter. There is no bad season for a maternity photoshoot in Worcestershire.
Bluebell woods near Worcester: the most magical spring maternity photoshoot setting!
If your due date is end of April or May, you are in for a treat!
Bluebell woods are one of those things that stop you in your tracks. A carpet of violet-blue stretching through the trees, that soft green light filtering through the canopy. It's magical in person, and extraordinary in photos. I'm slightly obsessed about bluebells and I even wrote a blog about the best places to see them in Worcestershire.
I know a perfect and most beautiful bluebell spot near Worcester. Perfect for a mid-week maternity photoshoot. Get in touch early. Bluebells don't wait, the best display lasts 3 weeks tops.

Autumn maternity photoshoots in Worcestershire.
Autumn is AMAZING for any photos. I LOVE IT.
Bodenham and Arley Arboretums are some of my favourite places to visit with my own family, as well as to take maternity couples in autumn. Hundreds of trees turning shades of amber, copper, and gold...it creates an extraordinary backdrop!
Bodenham is large and spacious, so even on busier days we can find our own quiet corner. Arley is smaller but has some individual trees that are simply jaw-dropping. There's also a café overlooking the lake at Bodenham which is perfect for a little rest, food and a warm drink after your session.
The drive is around 40 minutes from Worcester, and there's a small entrance fee but trust me, it's worth every minute and every penny!
They are very busy though even mid-week. If you'd like a quiet spot I an take you to my secret wood 20 mins from Worcester which turns organge and yellow in autumn.

Outdoor maternity photoshoots in Worcester city: parks, reserves & hidden gems
You don't always need to travel far. Maybe you don't have a car, or wish to stay close to the hospital. That's fair enough!
Worcester itself has some genuinely beautiful spots for an outdoor maternity photoshoot: city parks, the small nature reserves in WR4, and places where you can catch stunning sunset views over the city.
I know where the bluebells grow within the city limits. I know the best hour to be in each spot. I know where the light falls just right. Sometimes the perfect maternity photo location is closer to home than you'd think.

Can winter stop you from having a maternity photoshoot? Absolutely NOT!
Winter has its own kind of magic - misty mornings, bare branches, soft grey light that's actually incredibly flattering! And there's something wonderfully intimate about wrapping up together in the cold, snuggling close, sharing laughter as you brave the chill. Those moments are completely genuine, and genuine moments make the best photos. It's not about what you are wearing or the backdrop!
As a photographer, I focus on the people - not the background. Your love, your bump, your anticipation is what I'm capturing. And all of that is just as beautiful in January as it is in June.
I'll always have a warm blanket with me. I know cosy spots sheltered from the wind. And if you want to borrow a gorgeous winter-friendly gown or wrap, I have those too.
Pregnancy is special and it deserves to be celebrated whatever the season. Don't wait for the "right" time of year. The right time is now, while that bump is here.
I've written a whole blog post about winter maternity photoshoots if you'd like to read more — https://www.karinaoneillphoto.co.uk/post/why-an-outdoor-maternity-photoshoot-in-winter-is-totally-worth-it
How to choose the best location for your maternity photoshoot in Worcestershire
We figure it out together! You might not know this, but you and I are a team in all of this!
Tell me what you love: do you prefer wide open views or enclosed woodland? Do you dream of golden sunset light or soft spring greens? Are you adventurous, or would you rather keep it easy? Do you have a toddler or a dog joining us? (Both very welcome, by the way!)
Once I know a little about you, I'll suggest the perfect location and the perfect time of the month and day to be there. That's part of what I do :)
Every outdoor maternity photoshoot in Worcestershire with me lasts up to 90 minutes. There is plenty of time to relax, explore, change outfits if you'd like, and let the session unfold gently. I'll bring blankets. I'll guide you softly. And I promise it will feel nothing like posing for photos. It will feel like a walk with a friend.

When is the best time to book a maternity photoshoot in Worcestershire?
The sweet spot for a maternity photoshoot is between 28 and 35 weeks when the bump is beautifully round and you still feel comfortable enough to be on your feet. Please don't leave it too late as some babies have their own timeline!
And if you're thinking of booking a newborn session too, my Bump to Baby offer gives you 50% off each session fee when you book both saving you £130.
