Questions about your

HOME NEWBORN PHOTOSHOOT

in Worcestershire

Where do newborn photo sessions take place?

At your home - your safe and comfortable space.

What should I wear for my newborn photo session?

It's hugely important to wear the right kind of clothing for your newborn photo session. Neutral colours are best. Bear in mind the season, weather, and location. For home sessions, take your socks off! There is a lot to think about, and planning is crucial. I will send you a detailed guide on what to wear and what to avoid a few days before the session.

I worry that my house is not suitable for a photoshoot.

Remember that I focus on the people, not the background, so it doesn't matter how your house looks. To take wonderful photographs, all I need is a couch or some clear wall space. So please don't stress about 'the mess' or moving anything out of the way before I arrive.

How long does the newborn photo session last?

The session lasts up to 3 hours. This length, more than with most photographers, allows you to fully relax and enjoy the session rather than focus only on the photo-taking aspect. A wider variety of scenes will be a bonus!

Can we have a photo session in the evening?

Unfortunately you can’t. These photo sessions take place in the morning so we can take advantage of the best (natural) light conditions.

Can siblings and pets be included in the newborn session?

Absolutely! These sessions are about the entire family.

What if my older child won't cooperate during a home newborn photoshoot?

Even well-fed and rested children may cry a lot or refuse to smile. Let them be children and do what they feel like. Some children will need more time than others to get used to me or the camera. I will never ask them to smile for the camera, and neither should you. Have an open mind and don't have any expectations for your little ones. Some sessions are certainly more challenging than others, but I will be able to capture those calm moments and beautiful expressions. I like working with children, and I am a mum too - it helps:)

How do we prepare?

I provide a comprehensive prep guide full of advice and lists so you know how to prepare and what to expect before, during, and after the session. This guide will help you lots and I highly recommend reading it before your baby arrives.

How far in advance should we book a newborn session?

It's best to book your newborn session during your pregnancy, ideally in the second trimester. This ensures availability and allows us to plan for your session.

What happens if my newborn arrives earlier or later than expected?

If your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, just let me know as soon as possible, and we can adjust the session date accordingly. Flexibility is key, and I'll do my best to accommodate any changes in your schedule.

Do you bring props and outfits for the newborn session?

Given that my newborn sessions aim to authentically portray the journey of your growing family, I prefer to maintain a minimalistic approach with props. However, if you have cherished heirlooms or meaningful items you'd like incorporated, we'll certainly incorporate them.

I will bring a few comfy outfits for Mum. For the baby I encourage you to have your own babygrow preferable in white or beige colour without patterns. Tiny animals or stripes are fine as long as they are not dark and loud.

What if my newborn is unsettled during the session?

I allow plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, and soothing breaks as needed. Patience is key, and I'll work with you to ensure a comfortable and stress-free experience for both you and your baby. I’m a mum too - I remember well those early days of parenthood- it made me a better photographer:)

What safety measures do you take during newborn sessions?

While I adore babies and cherish every opportunity to hold them, I want to assure you that during the session, I never handle your baby or pose them in any manner typically expected in a studio setting.
